We found all of the information, including the toll info, very current.
Morelia is a great city. From Morelia we did a day tour to the monarch
butterfly reserve at El Rosario. We loved it! I can't say enough good things
about our guide, Luis Miguel. He is very professional and knowledgeable,
speaks perfect English and is very reasonable ( $50 for a FULL day trip). I'm
so glad we did not opt to drive ourselves. His website is:

If you want to do this from Zihua, you need to plan two nights in Morelia as
it really is a full day trip from Morelia. Also, it is quite chilly at the
high altitudes where the butterflies are.
nearby village of Santa Clara del Cobre is a great place to see the local
copper crafting activity. If you want a nice place to stay, we loved La Casa
Encantada. A super B&B, beautifully decorated and with a great breakfast.
